Joe, I too am going to check out the MSM stuff - as Reboot says, hell getting old! I do not like taking supps really as I always wonder if we are messing with the balance of things but on a quick glance on Google, it seems to be a good thing to take -

Thanks, hugs, Maggie x

Week 30 report. Not a bad week. One bad day that started out with fishing with a friend early in day and carried on to dinner, fire pit and Jacuzzi. Had a really great time but did have to many drinks. I did have plenty of water throughout the day, ate well, and took a booster pill when it got to be over 8 hours. But in the end I still ended up having 16 units over 12 hours. Paid for it next day with a typical hangover type day - not a nal-over thankfully. The rest of the week was fantastic. Only one other day that I drank and that was a quick stop at the bar because my wife was feeling the need to get out. After 4 small drafts I told my wife I had enough and I wanted to leave. She was not happy but did comply which was nice.

Weekly figures 0,0,4,16,0,0 and 0 for a total of 20 and 5 AF days.

I have a long fishing trip scheduled for the beginning of next week where I will be gone for several days with fishing and drinking buddies. Last year it was an absolutely wonderful experience but full of AL. This year I hope to contain myself to a lot less AL than the prior year. I am not a 100% sure I will be successful.

But this I do know: I will take my pills an hour before drinking. I will drink lots of water in between drinks. I will eat prior and after drinking a beer. I will not bring rum with me this year as that really brings up the units and has a tendency to open the AL flood gates.

I hope everyone has a great week.

WAY TO GO REBOOT !! Loved this - that YOU wanted to leave and your wife didn't - that was a real turn up for the books eh? Gosh yes you did sort of overdo that one day didn't you - no wonder you had a hangover - I am not sure that I would be upright the next day if I did that!

I think if I were you, I would be nervous about the upcoming fishing trip - but you seem to have thought about the various things that might cause problems and have it all under control! Have a wonderful time .... you need the break!

Hugs, Maggie xx

Not bad, Reboot! A far cry from what it used to be, eh?

The fishing trip will be a good test and you've got to run up against that for, well, additional practical experience! You wouldn't want to get over-confident and fall off the boat, so test and test again. But nice and easy does it, every time, ok? Have fun out there and take care, will be looking for you to report back.

Oh God yes... Leave the rum behind :)

This got me to thinking. Since I have started TSM I have not once hit the hard stuff. Vodka and Bourbon were my go to for when I needed a nice punch. I've not needed that punch anymore so I guess I just gave it up. I never really cared for vodka but it was easy to hide. Bourbon I actually like. Anyway so I always wondered if hitting the hard stuff would be any different and make TSM more difficult.

Reboot - it is fantastic to see your progress. Way to go! I am sure that you will manage the fishing trip well. Drinking lots of water helps. And not bringing rum sounds an excellent idea.

Reboot, you are doing so well!! Good luck on the fishing trip. You seem to be preparing, which is wonderful.

Ocean, after reading your post I thought alot about it and I really think that when I "overdo" these days, which is not nearly as often as it used to be but is still let's say once every two weeks, it is almost always when I am drinking the hard stuff. I love high alcohol drinks like martinis and cosmopolitans and my new favorite, an aviation, but they are what seem to lead me to a hangover. I need to give that some thought.

Unlike you and reboot, though, the thought of giving them is not so easy for me; not yet anyway. I think I am just so darn stubborn.

Anyway, thanks for making me think.

xoxo Newlife

Newlife - the thought of leaving the rum behind is a lot easier to say than to do! But I think it would be hard to try to keep my numbers down if for every double tall rum and coke I have counts for 4 units. And unlike beer, I can never just have one or two of the r/c's especially after having several beers throughout the day while fishing. Pretty sure it is a combo of the taste, AL levels spiking up and the damn habit of having a drink in my hand.

BTW - the aviation just sounds like a drink that would get you flying so it has to be high octane! if you are at all like me, one or two of those would lead to 3 and 4 more.

Reboot, your thinking makes a lot of sense!! Keep up the good work.

I laughed about the aviation getting you flying......it is a pre-prohibition drink so that probably was the intent!! It is strong but also very tasty and you are right, one or two (which is MORE than enough), often leads to 3 or 4, which is the problem.

Have fun fishing. Newlife
