OK, now I remember why I stopped taking the Nal... I took 1/2 tablet on Wednesday and had three drinks. I am still feeling sick today! I think I stopped taking it because it makes me tired, irritable and feeling ill. I had a lot of social events and didn't want to feel that way, so I stopped for awhile and that was it.

However, I know the side effects will diminish. To be honest, feeling ill is not a bad thing right now. I have NO desire to drink - period. I should feel ill after what I have been doing to my body. I wonder why I haven't felt worse while I was poisoning myself. It stopped my binge right in its tracks. I know this is better than the alternative, so I will stick with it. :D

JanCan you're probably experiencing Nalovers! I've had ONE and it was awful.... it was after a night of very heavy drinking (the heaviest since starting TSM). BUT.... many people on this forum have had very unpredictable nalovers, meaning after only a couple of drinks (could be three in your case). The SE's WILL go away. The nalovers may not. In which case, maybe they will act as a deterrent to drinking (like antabuse) for you??? Glad to hear you're going to stick with the Nal... it will work for you, one way or another. Just gotta give it a chance!

Sixpack..most welcome to pm me. I no longer discuss my thing on regular forums. Would hate to be misleading or disruptive or worse. Do lots of research on LDN as well as TSM.

Jancan - those NAL overs will certainly make you miserable for a couple of days. Plenty of my AF days came right after the NALovers at the beginning. And I may not be as upbeat as I was before I started TSM but I sure remember what I do and say and how I get to bed every night. Saving lots of money and many other benefits of being in control (not cured) of my intake of AL.

Best of luck!

Maggie! You are the best! And so happy for you and the timing could not have been better. I am going to sell my stock in Guinness before the word gets out to the financial markets!

ROTFLMBO Reboot !!! That did make me laugh this morning ! But probably a good idea to sell now!!!

Jancan - I agree with MM - you are experiencing Nal-overs I think - and yes they are unpredictable - I have had them with as few as 3 drinks and then often did not get them at all - so who knows. BUT however the nal works for you - if it stops you drinking then you really do need to keep on with it. Jaba never drinks more than 3 now for that very same reason.

And just saying - but just 'cos you have a social event does not mean that you have to drink. Even when I WAS drinking (it still makes me giggle when I say that), I would not drink when out - because of driving - I could only ever have two - so could you not say you are the designated driver ? Or say you are taking meds and cannot drink? Just a thought anyway.....and I am so glad that you are going to stick with it this time !!

Hugs, Maggie xx

Or just that you'd rather EAT your calories than drink them? That's always very convincing!

That is a good one MM - I had not thought of that.

I am still doing well - yesterday had a couple Guinness in front of the fire while sorting menu for Christmas Day - but am not having any today and not even buying any .... which means none in the house - and I am NOT freaking out at that thought - it really is lovely ! I think maybe I might even post in the 'cured' section soon .....

Hugs, Maggie x
