It's looking good Nigel, as maggie said you are def better off for TSM. And yes some of us do have to work at it. From time to time I throw myself a little pity party and say "Why couldn't I have been one of the ones for whom the magic quickly happened." But when I think about it I am still so much better off. I'll take it.

Thanks for posting and updating us.

Nigelr, that was me, for I have to do a lot for myself for this process to work, but at least I can stop and slow down my intake!

I guess that is why people on here say nal. cannot knock that glass out of your hand (but god it would be nice if it did sometimes)!

Your AF days look great, keep up the good work,

So kind of keeping up with AF days. Had a very full week with a head hanging 41 units and only 1 af. My biggest problem now is that when I have had af days, I 'reward' myself by drinking what I like when I can; this is pretty much my nature, feast/famine personality. I don't seem to be able to have a pill and then just one glass of wine. Maybe I should trial a week where I drink everyday but just one glass.... not sure its worth it though

Nigler

I think if you can do a week with only one glass it may be worth it.

I have found, for me, it is a mind thing. The need and desire for drinking just isn't that strong, but if I do not challenge myself, or stop myself, I can continue to drink like a fish. The only difference is I can stop, I can have an AF day, without feeling like I am going to claw off my skin or climb the walls. My habit for drinking is just that, habit.

I am not suggesting that is the case with you, but if you do not challenge yourself how will you know?

That's exactly like me Nigel. I overdo it the day after an AF day too and then comes the Nalover.
Haha if I could take a Nal and only have 1 glass of wine then that would be ground breaking!

Me too Nigel - I would love to be able to have just ONE drink. BUT today I had had one then poured a second - and had some of it then had a bowl of ice cream and after that I didn't want the rest of my Guinness - it was as if the sugar in the ice cream satisfied that craving - I said to Cheeto that sugar and AL are opposite sides of the same coin - so maybe trying something sweet either before or after that first drink might help us ? I might give it a try tomorrow .....

Hugs, Maggie x

Hopefully that feast or famine thing will go away soon. Fingers crossed!

So 2 not too bad weeks, which is a really good thing as work has been mega busy, we've been pruning the vineyard and this involves big teams of workers from sun up to sun down, normally a time that I turn to the bottle, however I actually managed my best week yet since starting with a 4 af and 21 units. Thing is that means I did drink 7 units on each of the other days which isn't really moderate at all!!

I am definitely going off strong red wine, (second time of saying this). I am sticking to 1.5 tablets. I am going to try for 3 to 4 af a week and then look at reducing amounts on those days I do drink.

Nigelr,

I forgot you work at a vineyard, for the thought makes me shutter. I would not have control, for I would be like a kid in a candy store!

I think you're doing great and as long as you follow that golden rule, you will continue to have progress.

One thing that I did notice is once I drank past a certain amount it was harder for me to stop (which is one of the reasons I kept my limit to 3 glasses of wine). It was as if the nal was not working past that amount. At first it was hard for me to stop at 3 or less, but once I continued it felt empowering and easier with time.

I admire your AF days, for they are remarkable.

Keep up the good work,

Jaba

Nigel: still it's a very good week. You do have it tough with your profession, I have always thought that. You deserve a lot of credit for hanging in and not giving up.

Nal on!! xoxo Newlife
