Week 51-20 units, 4 af. Went out 3 nights and drank in social situations with a 6, 7 and 7 beer nights. A lot of fun and of course my norm these days as I come close to finishing my first year on TSM. In retrospect, I have no regrets and am glad I was rewarded and given my life back. That I am still able to participate in a party, social situation and work on something I should of worked out decades ago. What I'm alluding to is my ability to bond with people and myself. I'm now making new friends and perhaps will meet a special someone where alcohol isn't my main objective as it was before. Its very obvious to me my past mistakes alcohol caused me in my relationships. I'm so glad to be a part of this forum, to be part of a movement to get the word out so to speak. That there is a way to get out of the grip of alcoholism and no need of wasting 4 decades as I did. Alcohol is the great deceiver, at least it was in my life. It kept me from everything I truly needed. It lied to me and caused me to make terrible decisions. If you don't think it's lying to you, causing you to make bad decisions, try this. Put a couple of af days in a week and see how you feel. I bet you will feel so good after being af that the comparison of how you feel while drinking with no buzz and experiencing an occasional nal-over becomes apparent. You start to remember and finally figure it out. Then look in what situation can you do things best that better your life? Can you do more while drinking or on days where you are clear from the af day. You start questioning the value of your drinking as to how you feel and what you get done after periods of being af. You see differently and remember the importance of being pro-active in your life making it the best it can be. Look at my signature, it took me 20 weeks until I was able to experience my first af day in decades. Then they became more and more frequent. Now they are the norm and I love how I feel after them. Simple isn't it? Once you understand it, be mindful and realize it just takes time and patience. You realize after awhile the nal has crushed the addiction and you only drink out of habit. Habits are easier to change then addiction and if your focus is on bettering your life. Just get busy on doing things that you like and reap their rewards. That in a af state of mind, you re-learn to bond with yourself and participate in a healthy way in making your life the best it can be. In signing out for the week and starting the last week of my first year on my TSM journey. I think that after you put in a certain amount of weeks of following the Gr, for me 20. The implementing of a af day is crucial and monumental. Always be mindful of what's taking place as you journal your path and ponder desire vs habit. If it is habit, question is it the best use of your time in making your life the best it can be. You can all do it. Ty for reading my posts and replies. I have a lot of respect for you guys that show up week after week and participate by sharing. You will experience it and be free. Peace. Thanks for the great post plantpro - I need to read things like that and I also need to try and implement at least one AF day a week - after the week before lasts four I am back to none again - SIGH. It did feel good but it was such a shock to me that I didn't really appreciate it at all until now ..... what you said really makes sense!

hugs, Maggie x

Thank you for sharing your progress! You are doing awesome! I am in week 14 and our progress from week one to week 14 is almost identical. This gives me a lot of hope for when I am as far along as you are now. :)

Thank You plantpr0, almost a year on TSM and it's people like you that help us all out as you have not given up where some may have the thinking that they should only give it 3-6 months like the book says.
We all respond differently and are at different stages but as Heavy Fuel stated "to keep positive and stay with it for as long as it takes if you REALLY want freedom from alcohol." Which you have done and I am going to do too come hell or high water!!!!
I Thank God for this Forum and am very thankful also for all that post week after week keeping us all motivated!!!!
You are doing awesome!!!!

Week 52, 26 units, 3 af. Went out 5 nights but only drank 4 with 5, 6, 7 and 8 beer nights. A long Easter weekend, great bands, a lot of dancing and a late dinner with a girl I'm fond of had me feeling like a rock star this week. If your concerned about the high consumption and TSM not working on me, don't be. I believe the going out has been good for me and my soul. I'm learning about myself and others. I'm learning to trust them, bond with them and develop what I hope will be lasting relationships. It's unlike before where I would be with people, but not really be because my mind was somewhere else because of the alcohol. I abuse TSM, no doubt, but that's me right now. It's how I chose to live my life and celebrate it. I love the af days and nights, they are the default and what I like the most. There's a future in those and I realize the drinking while dancing will soon fade. There is no desire to drink anymore, TSM crushed that. I believe I can actually help others as I help myself by cutting back or not drinking at all. This will be my goal in the short term future thanks to TSM. I'm working my way up the pecking order amongst my friends and realize I have a responsibility to lead by example. The problem we had or have, a lot of people have or may develope. Nothing good comes from excessive alcohol as we all know. I see others effected the way I was, we are or were. A bunch of lost souls and maybe I/we can help by being compassionate and sharing our past and our futures with them. In signing out for the week and finishing up my first year on TSM, a special shout out to a man that saved my life, Dr. David Sinclair. A modern day hero that I will always remember. Good luck to all of you on your journey, I can think of no better place for you to be then here. Peace.
