Well done nigeir! Totally normal thoughts and again perfect execution. I like it that you don't hold back and bring your addiction to the nal. Keep the course.

Nigelr before I started TSM my AF days were always followed by increased craving/intake. I guess the deprivation effect can happen overnight.

Anyway I sympathize with your need to be clear headed at work. Nal makes me pretty spacey too, and I don't know if this gets any better or just becomes the new normal.

How did your harvest go? are you finished? I hope it was a success :)

Hello All41, yes I hadn't thought of that.. it could be after 3 AF days my mind said 'you've been really good have loads'

The spaceyness from Nal has lessoned lots, I feel very little now when I take it, expect a general cotton wollyness that evening and the next morning.

Harvest was best ever yet thank you, very stressful especially at end, but all in all great

Its Monday so its weekly update time.

Had no af's this week, and a total of 69 units, I am not sure I can read much into that... I drunk less than a week when I had 1 af, and slightly more than a week when I had 2 af... but its still loads!

I can see that I am not having a big binges, but similarly I am not ever really moderating.

Went out for lunch yesterday, someone else treated us and normally I would have enjoyed a few drinks, but I chose to drive and it was easy not to drink.... in fact I don't know if drinking would have added anything.

So cravings are low, I can easily not drink, Its been asked a million times but what is going over and over in my head is do I make AF days, and do I consciously cut down, because it feel like the biggest reason I am drinking now is habit coupled with the knowledge I am allowed what I want because I have had my pill. I have scoured the threads and it seems to me the general advice is to do nothing and let the magic happen.

I am going for an af night tonight as my body feel like it needs one, but do you think I should start to measure out a certain amount of drink pre drinking? my worry had been that if I measure out an amount then I would drink it all whatever and then not allow myself the 'I've had enough' option. To be honest whilst I haven't opened a new bottle at 11pm like I used to, I also haven't had the I don't want anymore sensation that I got in honeymoon.

p.s. my thread of the week was reading through heavy fuels weekly progress.

Every drink I take from now on is one more step to getting my life back. Every drink is one step closer to an AF free day, something I haven’t had in years. I will take the pill. I will drink. Science is on my side. Soon I will be free. I won’t be on here complaining about the loss of how alcohol makes me feel. I just want my life back. I think I have found a way.

EDIT: From reading further into this board and comparing to what I learned in The Cure for Alcoholism, the TSM if for life. I know that once I start, for me to reap the benefits, I can never drink without naltrexone ever again. I don't get to some magical point where years of drinking go away forever. As the book says, if I do, I will revert back to my current state in a few months. Why bother doing this if I am not going to accept the TSM as a whole?

Thanks for the tip Nigelr, HF's posts are well worth reading. This site is a great archive........

Glad to hear things are going well!

Hmmm, so you've read that most TSMers recommend that you just drink and not worry about the AF day. My thinking on this subject is that one AF day won't cause the deprivation effect, so it might be advantages to actively choose not to drink if that decision isn't that difficult. I think that one needs to work on changing habits as well as extinguishing endorphins. Just my two cents worth. Regardless, I'm happy to see you are sticking with the Nal. Hugs, Keek

so the same again really.. 66.8 units no af days.

I am not worried and have stopped overthinking, but I do ponder if there is much of a change. I am not sure how much placebo there is for some, but for me it is all just continuing on the same.

I definitely have a habit of wine with evenings at home, and there isn't so much stuff happening mid week so most nights are at home, and I have wine.

I had two bigger hits, once a party and the other a bigger at home session.

Of course I would like there to be a tipping point, but I just haven't reached it yet.

I know the Nal is working as I still haven't had a rush/buzz when drinking.

Forcing an Af today as I have had a Nal for the last 18 days and I am feeling a bit underwhelmed in general... need some natural endorphins

Nigel I was just looking at your numbers in terms of average number of drinks per day factoring in the AF days, and it's seems like you "catch up" on the weeks with AF days by drinking more per day on average. I do the same which tells me that my cravings are still cycling up after AF days. I have always done that kind of mini-binge game with myself.

Overall though, in the last 2 weeks (with no AF days) your drinks per day number slipped below 10 for the first time since you started, which is encouraging. I'm just crunching numbers in a different way, and it likely doesn't amount to much, but maybe it's the start of a trend. Just as an FYI you and I are currently drinking at about the same level. Sometimes I'ts hard to compare with some of us using US and some UK, so I have been tracking mine in both.

For you I came up with:

10.8
10.2
10.4 - 2AF
13.1 - 1AF
12.6 - 2AF
14.1 - 3AF
9.8
9.4
