Well, after starting well with a clear honeymoon period and then feeling a bit dispirited (over ambitious/expectant on my part) I think another corner has been turned. Right from the outset my drinking got way better. I had been having some really bad drinking days, which is how I found my way here, desperation. Drinking in the morning, despite knowing how stupid it was. Generally not doing all the time that but it was creeping up and on a 3 day weekend the chances of not having a wipe out on Monday were turning into zero. On better days I was just drinking in the evening, still way too much really. I found the hideous morning drinking went from pretty much day one. The eve drinking still is high but often halved what it was, it makes me sleepy now rather than full of endorphin fuelled highs so bed seems an option rather than more more more booze booze booze. But I didn't manage an AF day until this week.

I HAVE NOW HAD THREE AF DAYS IN A ROW! Unheard of!!! I'm so delighted. This morning, knowing the Nal was truly out of my system I did 30 mins on the cross trainer and it felt good.

It worked as on Tues I knew I was getting in late and had to drive home late so I thought it was a good time to push it, I did have to use some will power but it was tolerable. Wednesday, again, I thought, OK try a bit, see if you can do it, it was a little hard, but I really am using the word little here. Yesterday hardly any will power needed, just a desire to get through to today and feel proud and do some exercise and feel the benefit.

So anyone new reading this, it does work, as so many on here say, you have to work it too but it's not like doing it without a period of Nal where I've really bitten my arm off trying and so often failed. I'm not yet 3 months in but I'm a convert, it seems to do what it says on the tin! (Well, internet anyway).

I'm so happy. This is liberating so far, it's early days, but it is working. My appetite for food has also come back, I'd lost interest and was feeling full after just a small amount of food, handy for weight loss but I missed the tastes and enjoyment of eating, goodness me I'm starving all day today though!

Tish.

Yes it is true that I have AFs; for some reason I have a hard time stringing them together. Hoping that will come.

Nal on!! Newlife

Well I'm into week 12 and this is my first AF day, well first 3 but first of them. I tried before but kept cracking. I'm sure no one can have miracles at this stage. I did expect some a bit, but good people, further on than me, pointed this out and they were right and I'm glad I listened, kept going and kept the faith. xx

Wow Tish, that is great. I'm so pleased for you and so pleased you have carried on posting. You seem to have recognised the changes and revelling in them!

Congratulations :P Nal on!

Thank you UKB, you and Maggie have been key supports for me here and kept me going and also made me aware of the full process, not just the magic pill stuff. Thank you both so much xx

Thank you all!! I'm not sure if I will make an AF day this week, a lot of pressure at work and stuff but I have vowed that I won't take a Nal till 8pm and therefore won't drink till 9pm and that should be my new goal for non AF weekday drinking. That I think I can do so that's another small milestone I hope I can achieve on a regular basis, I think goals, even small ones are important, and that they realistic ones too, then progress can be seen, even if it is not a major revelation it is something and as humans we like to see things move on... Thanks again for the support xx
