Before starting the treatment I was taking around 9 to 12 beers per evening. Sometime I was starting a little sooner. Some time it can be up to 15 beers or more in some circumstance. My English is not my main language so I'll write with the words I know.

Today is my fourth day. I started Saturday without knowing about the TSM. He give me a prescription for one year where I have to take 2 times the Nal(50mg) for Saturday. It's what I do. I felt really bad especially it was my first dose. It was around 3pm when I took it. I never wanted to take beer for some hour. Around 4-5 hours. After the bad feeling passed away, I started to drink beer up to 12 and ended around 2am at night.

Sunday I felt there something is not right and started to search for when I have to take Naltrexone the most efficient way and it's how I found TSM. I took 1 Nal at 3pm, the time I will take it most of the day, begin to take my first beer at 4pm and it took me around 1h45 to drink the whole cane. I ended up to take 5 and a little of the 6th one before I decided to go to sleep. I ended at 1h30 am. That was amazing. My brain didn't want take "stuff (google translate)" instinctively. I have to think, "oh, I have a beer there", to take a "stuff". And my stomach was getting full quickly so I can't take more than my digestive system can take.

Monday (Yesterday). I only took 2 beers. After my 2nd beer I felt so angry that I have to eat until I was full. After that I didn't felt I want more but still thinking about having more.

Today I took my pill at 3pm and I'll start my first beer after I end my post.

Beginning from Sunday I experienced like others here bad sleep.

I'm not going to give detail like that for every day but it's just how it started. I'll give my progress weekly after that. I don't know but maybe it's easier for me because I drank beer only instead of wine and higher percentage alcohol product (I search my word) and I already have a control to drink only at evenings. So far it's really quick for me.

Here's my progress: S-12, S-6, M-2, ...
My next progress post is gone to be the next Saturday. If I don't forget.

Good luck to everyone.

PS: I would like to know if "stuff" is the good word. Thanks

Welcome! It's great that you have come here for support. It looks like so far, things are going well for you. Don't worry about your English, I am able to understand everything you wrote. You are very lucky to have a doctor prescribe Naltrexone for you without even asking.
Best of luck,
Tweed

First, thank tweed. About my doctor giving Naltrexone to me without asking, it's not really true. I first searched for drug that could help with alcoholism. After comparing each other I found that Naltrexone was best suited for me in my current situation. It's because there is always beers here for free where I live. That's make thing a lot more complicated.

Second, thank newlife. I just finished reading your whole thread. I found that sometime you are angry about yourself because you are not able to decrease your amount of drinking. I which to know what's going on but currently I'm just a beginner and the only thing I can tell is: More stress you give to yourself, more quickly you are gonna to lost focus. Or maybe having focus with that treatment is not the good thing to do. Because we currently trying to tell the brain that drinking is not giving fun. That's something I would like to know soon if that's the case.

At this time I'm already at my 3rd beer. My body is getting back to normal. I think last days was just the first side effect I experienced. I hope it's not the case but at this time I don't feel that the Nal is working right now. I'll see later how I feel.

Thank you again for your support.

Do expect some ups and downs - over time you should notice an overall decline(especially if you record all your drinks) Don't get discouraged, it's early days still.
Best wishes,
Tweed

Hi Ghaunt, really all you have to do is follow the golden rule (50 mg 1 hour before drinking) and be patient. Tracking helps keep you self=aware of your behavior and progress, and substituting healthy behavior for bad behavior on AF days (when you get to that point) also helps.

Good luck!

What part of the world are you from where the beer is always free.........must be heaven or hell depending on your perspective.

Hi All41, I live in Canada Québec and here, the alcohol is more expensive than the rest of the world. Because the beers is free or almost of the time for me, it's because I live with my parents and them too, they are alcoholic. Especially my mother she's going to hit a wall if she's continue to drink like that. I encourage her to get a prescription for Naltrexone. But unfortunately, the drug's database here in Canada are very strict to allow a physician to prescribe Naltrexone. It emphasize on the fact that Naltrexone is very dangerous for the liver. So people in Canada like my mother that have liver disease or damaged because of alcohol, have very little chance to be able to get Naltrexone. She's doesn't try yet but hope she are able to get it.

Yesterday was good has I drank 7.5 beers. It still less than the past average.

Thank you for your support.

Ugh!! The liver thing, according to the book, is only a problem at very very high levels of Nal, so that is misguided and too bad. I feel for you, Ghaunt, as it must be very hard with the whole household in the throes of this and hard to see your parents suffer. I hope you call all get some relief. Newlife

Yes the damage to the liver was found only on several times the recommended dose, and with obese patients, it is therefore misleading.

I hope you can find success with naltrexone.
