Just think, you got that first big disappointing spill on new carpets out of the way!

Too funny Deena !! But true - and the stain stuff really worked well - it is many years since I have had new carpets and the stain stuff has come a long way! I go to UK 16th October - just going for 9 days but always get stressed about it before I go - I am such a homebody! On the plus side, I stay with my mum who doesn't drink - and it is fairly easy (with having started Nal) to not drink there - or when I do, to only have a couple !! So that is a good thought !

Hugs, Maggie x

I agree with Jaba - visiting people who do not drink or drink a little helps me a lot when I try to limit my drinking. Also, when there is no wine offered during the flight. Traveling, however, is for me a moment when I used to drink a lot in hotel rooms. With Nal this is getting better. I hope that you will have great trip back home!

you have to really be looking forward to your trip, Maggie! I have a strong hunch it will be easier than ever to limit your drinking while you're over there. you've made a lot of progress and I know you want more! zontar

It's the packing and passport/customs/check in I hate.

It is the 8 hour flight in cramped seats that I hate ! And then arriving the next morning and having to do another 5 hours on a train - and being SO jet lagged !!! LOL - But it is all good and I am looking forward to it !!!

Hugs, Maggie x

Jaba - it wouldn't be so bad if it was just ONE 5 hour train journey - but once I get through customs it is a train journey into London then more down to my mum - OR 2 train journeys if I do not go into London - depends on which airport we go into. Coming back is slightly easier - the planes leave too early for me to go up the same day so I get a train up the day before and stay in a hotel near the airport.

Plus it is 50 mins to the airport this end - then a plane to my first stop then the 2nd (8 hour) plane trip - a VERY long journey which gets worse the older I get.

Hugs, Maggie x

Listening to your trip, I see why you put it off. I used to hate the4 hour drive to my Moms place. Now that she is gone I would give anything to take that trip and visit her and my childhood home. But I agree the older we get the harder the traveling is. I have been such a homebody lately and hate to go anywhere and do much.
Best wishes on your trip old friend. I am proud of you, and I am glad that you talked me into going on this journey with you. I do hope it helps all of us here.
