When I first told my husband I was going to do TSM he really flipped. Didn't want me drinkng again of course.

But I forwarded web pages to him to his e-mail, and he started warming up to it. Then he finally agreed. He's an RN, so I think the medical explanation helped him understand.

But me getting drunk on nal, makes me worry he might turn against it. Oh well time will tell.

I wish you the best in getting him to understand.

Oh I also had my husband watch "One Little Pill". That was the clincher. After that he was in.

Tamara, I am glad that your hubs seeing what TSM is all about helped him realise that it was a good thing - it does help, if we tell our spouses, how TSM works - I did tell mine and he is fine with it - he also drinks though and actually has a problem but stops at will for a few weeks then of course is back at it - but never ever take anything to help him - he will do it his way!!

Re the Nal-Overs, yes they will help you to have an AF day - and yes we can drink through the Nal - it does not stop you drinking or as someone else here said - it will not knock the glass out of your hand. Only we can decide not to drink - and the Nal helps us with that but yes as you found out, you can easily drink through it.

I cannot remember what thread Jaba said about my not drinking Guinness - that it was my comfort deink - well, LOL - it is my ONLY drink! It made me panic when she said about not drinking it - really gave me food for thought and I found it hard to explain why I could and will not stop it - Newlife said it and I cannot remember exactly how but basically - I need to learn with the Nal, how to not drink so much - and if I change my drink to something I do not care for, what happens when I DO drink Guinness again? Maybe I am looking for excuses but I have to do this with my drink of choice I think. I will have to find that post and see exactly how Newlife put it because it explained it better than I am doing now !

My numbers are still down to pre-Nal which is good but they have gone up from a few weeks ago - that week that I did not want to drink was amazing and has shown me what eventually will happen with Nal - I will lose that desire for a drink - and that day will come eventually - I had a taste of it a few weeks ago and really want it back again!

Hugs to all, Maggie x

I can not share with hubby the ideas from the book because he believes that you have to quit and stay quit. He is happy I am working with a doctor. I will have to see what happens. Thank you for the support. Now I know he is always watching me.

I absolutely understand what you are saying and agree. If I drink beer, I am going to drink less. If I do this that way, what will happen if I have a glass of wine? I think I have to do this with my usual drinks. I need to work more on my drinking patterns than the drink itself.

I think that taking the nal later and later has helped me lower my consumption.

Jaba- your idea of cutting back on my drinking hours is a good one except that I do not drink after about 5.00. SO, I might try that- good thinking. I suppose if I am honest I tend to drink the same amount of drinks - no matter what time I start - so I really need to cut down on the amount of drinks ! I really really need to try and do that!

I do not take your suggestions any way other than suggestions - so no worries there. I welcome any and every idea .....until you suggested I switch and drink something else I had no idea that I would have such a feeling of panic !!! So THAT was sort of a wake up call! But it was good in that it really made me think about things - did not make me change my mind about the Guinness but it did make me think!

Thank for the insight ! Hugs, Maggie x

I am getting so confused about what I am posting where ..... BUT in answer to your thing about changing my Guinness to something else Jaba, I am going to stick with the Guinness - it IS my drink and I have to do this drinking MY drink. The idea is that I can have 1 or 2 now and again hopefully - or if I choose, to go AF eventually - but I would like to be able to drink Guinness and if I stop it now then I will never know and will always want ...... does that make sense ?

I appreciate your putting that forward though - it really caught my attention !!!!

Hugs to all, Maggie x
