Really good Nigel - I know that you did sort of have a lot on the days that you drank - BUT to have 4 AF days is wonderful! How long have you been taking the 75 mg now ?

Hugs, Maggie x

Nigel, you're putting together an impressive number of AF days.... that's awesome! And all the more impressive considering your profession! Keep on keeping on!!!

Hi I have read through most of the posts on this thread and it's been very helpful but it stops early Dec 2015, does the thread stop automatically? Or are you guys sharing on another thread now?
`i only started nalmafene Nov 3 2015, going fairly well, had two near binges that didn't blow up too badly, but the second resulted in a super bad nail hangover and bad recurring ses, probably worse for women than men? Anyway I'd like to join this thread, everyone is so encouraging and talking TSM sense as per C3 Foundation Europe (I'm from UK).

Boo - the thread keeps going as long as the person posts on it - we all tend to have our own progress thread which is a great way of seeing where we are at. Others post on our threads as well as a means of encouragement and support. Have you started Nal? You might want to start your own thread if you have .....

hugs, Maggie

So been a while since I posted.

I guess looking good.

I have had my lowest ever week since starting Nal, with a 6 units !!

I went away walking like I did last year to new Zealand, had an amazing time, I think the opportunities were there as much, I just didn't over do it hugely when I did drink. Still having lots of af days, and they really help, puts me off over doing it and makes you feel so much better. I still went over the top at xmas and new year. (45 units)

So here I am over a year later and I guess that I could say I am finally having to admit there is change, NOT the change you read about that you expect to happen just like that after 3 months, but change that I cant explain and that has happened painfully slowly over the year... so slowly that in fact I cant really see it happening until I look at my figures. I still enjoy drink, still 'reward' myself with it, still over do it sometimes, but the rush and passion/loveaffair I had with it is diminished just not gone.

So I would say stick with it and have sensible expectations.

Very well stated! And even "normal drinkers" over due it during the holidays so do not beat your self up over that. And as far as the painfully slow part and not seeing your progress until you look back really emphasizes the usefulness of tracking your intake!

Nigel, I am so pleased for you!! You are giving me hope as I can see your progress is slow and steady like mine. I had stopped tracking but am starting again and this really helps.

I know that there have been many times when you thought that nal would never work for you, and I am so impressed that you never gave up or stopped tracking. And now you are seeing results.

I am in the same boat where I know I have been helped and cannot deny that, but it wasn't the "magic" bullet that I had hoped for and that some do experience. And you are encouraging me to push myself for more AF days. I had one this week on Monday and it felt wonderful. Last night I had only two glasses of wine, not a lot, but I don't feel as good today. So seeing the difference really works.

Nal on, Nigel!!

an update

I still hang about here, but don't post so much

All pottering along ok

Have had one bad week of 42 unit, cant really remember why even, however the rest have been low for me, couple of 4 day af weeks, and a couple of 3 day af week. I think that's the major change is the AF days, they make such a huge difference, and were totally bewildering in the beginning to get my mind around, now they are frankly easy.

When I do drink I still have too much, but that habit and my personality, not sure I would even say I enjoy it as much anymore

so am I cured?? nah, am I better... UM YUP. If I look at figures they are all way higher this time last year and so so few af days, I have lost weight and if I look at pictures of myself previously I can often see that hungover look even though I was putting a brave face on it!!

Stick with it, there is no quick fix, but some change will happen some time.

Hey Nigel good to get an update. Change is slow for me too but I too am much better off than before TSM. We are old timers here these days.

I admire your AF days, they are still few and far between for me, only one and MAYBE two per week, and they still make me nervous. How did you begin getting more of them?

Good to hear from you!! Newlife
