I am having a really hard day. Keep having thoughts of just scrapping it and going into rehab. Help me out--push me through!

I snapped myself out of it by reading some of the posts here.

ma6907, if rehab is something you want to do then go for it. Just remember you are not alone. We're here for you on this board. Hang in there.

Hi ma6907 - Sorry you are having a hard day. It is so hard in the beginning isn't it. I spent most of Saturday rereading everyone's posts to cheer me up and keep me on track. The progress is so slow at this point of the game. Hang in there. If I remember right you have only been doing TSM for a few weeks like me so we still have a ways to go before we will see much progress.

I am doing much better this pm. I am about 6 weeks in and making some progress. Frustrated because I woke up with huge cravings (I always do on Monday). I am not very patient.

MLB's post really inspired me to stay on the program. If I could match his progress--I would be very happy (I think I remember him saying he is a "he".)

My 7 year old son told me that I am the best dad in the world the other night. I just started sobbing, because clearly I am not. But I want to be.

Don't worry about being occasionally tempted to give up now and again, I think it happens to everyone. But even if you think you have given up completely, still take the Nal before hand. Thats the one thing that I'm glad I done when I gave up (which I did, many times in 6 months, its not easy), and now I'm way better. I know its frustrating, and it doesn't have to be a case of just sitting around for a miracle to happen; put targets in place and try your best to reach them- but if you don't manage don't beat yourself up too much about it, you have a drink problem, that is the problem, and thatproblem will be lessened next week with TSM.

Just coming out of a horrendous three day binge.....only 2 1/2 weeks in but feeling very down. Have been taking NAL religiously. My desire to go out and get smashed is still as strong as ever....:( Gonna keep at it, I have faith. But its hard sometimes to see the light when you feel this rough! Good luck everyone

If you've been reading the posts, you've probably noted that most of us struggle through the first few months, but it does get easier. Your body has to unlearn all the drinking habits it came to rely on, and it won't give them up easily - but it will give them up, in all likelihood. The good news is that nobody judges you here, because we're all in the same boat. And every pill, no matter how many drinks it's accompanied by, brings you one step closer to regaining control.
