Hello all I received my "Naltima" from river on December 28th. I was concerned that I would be getting "Nodict" the alleged time release version. I can say definitively this has got to be Naltima. The reason I say this is I went to take a whole one today not chewing mind, you put on tongue take swig of water swallow. OMG!!! I obviously did not drink / swallow fast enough, it tasted like ass jeebus. Who ever had mentioned chewing it up and swallowing... wow you are better than me stuff is nasty.

There needs to be a serious warning around nodict.

Destroyed by progress.

Half a glass of wine wrote:
Hi all - You may recall that I declared myself cured several months ago. Things are still going well, but I have a bit of a problem.

My story was after 15 months of naltrexone from River I hadn't seen much improvement. Then, just by chance I had gotten prescription Revia from a member. After two months of using that I had all but quit drinking. Well, I ran out of it about a month ago and had to go back to Nodict from River. Although I still don't drink much, I've noticed that when I go out I have 4 glasses of wine instead of my one or two. Also notice a bit more craving now. Not happy with that and am wondering if anyone has found a reliable source for Revia online without a prescription.

Thanks all for any feedback. I do not want to go back to my pre-cured days and with all of the holiday parties it is hard to avoid wine. Even on Nodict, one glass of wine leads to more than I would like to have.

I ordered some revia brand stuff from goldpharma .com yesterday. Hopefully the stuff is legit.

Easy solution. Go to Alldaychemist.com and order Naltima. They do NOT sell Nodict. It takes about 10+ days to get the meds if you use VISA. Good luck.

My brother has been on TSM for 3 years now. His first order was Nodict from United Pharmacies and the meds were definitely working for him at that time. But that pharmacy did not have a stellar rep, so we switched to AllDayChemists (Naltima). Sadly ADC suddenly had many country restrictions on where they would ship, so we switched to River (Nodict). For last 6 months, my brother has been on Nodict and gradually saw that his drinking increased to more than it was before starting TSM. He found some extra packs of Naltima in the fridge and switched to them. Immediately he noticed a difference. That day he only had 3 beers over an 8 hour period. So we're convinced that something went wrong with Nodict. I dont believe in the time release coating as the issue, but rather a shoddy manufacturing process and poor quality control at the factory. So all of our ordering from now on will be for Naltima or Revia.

To bradsea, did you get your Revia from goldpharma yet? I see they have some decent pricing for it. How is it packaged, in foil strips?

I have used Nodict from the begining with TSM I had no problems with it and quit drinking in four months just as predicted by The Cure for Alcoholism book and this website. Considering the way I felt on Naltrexone (Nodict brand) weather it was time released or not it worked for me? 8-) My future is so bright I gotta wear shades.

Update 5-12-2013

New Rx is very different I tried today feel
sick and dizzy not sure about this Nodict brand anymore !
Sorry

I am very early on in this but just wanted to report that I took Nordict for the first time last night and felt CRAZY. Anxiety, very, very hot and sweaty, dizzy. The warm buzz feeling was gone when drinking, but I DID finish a bottle of wine! Honestly, I was making myself drink to take the edge off from the medicine. Counterproductive.

Hopeforwomen

I started with Naltima from ADC and at first I was only a little fuzzy minded from taking the drug , even giddy and happy but then I started feeling pretty bad after taking a pill so much so that it ruined my day. Since I was pretty much just taking it on weekends it meant that if I wanted to have wine and took Nal then I was resigned to being lazy, ill and wasted from the Nal for the rest of the afternoon. So I just stopped the Nal and am controlling my drinking without any drugs for now. But with Nal I did not seem to get the buzz from the alcohol or the nice sensation that alcohol gives me but without Nal I definitely feel the effects of a glass of wine or beer. So I guess that I will just play it from day to day for now. If I feel that I am slipping into any past behavior I will go back on the Nal or stop drinking. I can still not drink for as many days as I want although I do look forward to a nice meal and a glass of wine and an after dinner coffee and a glass of port or sherry.

Note that I would like to fill this first line with a colourful string of expetives and random words. Tourrette-fashion, you know (no offence intended towards anyone with that disease).

I stopped TSM last November after nine months, in large, because of a drastic backslide and plateau. Well. Guess what I'd been taking during that unfortunate period? Nodict.

When they arrived it seemed the pills looked odd, and the name struck me, er... funny, but I hadn't any idea that Nodict was so different in its action to Naltima, the latter being the version of Nal with which I'd started the programme.

Thanks a million for all the info, everyone. I'll be sure to stick with what works for me from here on out.

All the best,

Xanthippe

Since the beginning I have taken Naltima and the results have been varied. I think that the Nal blocked the receptors as it is supposed to but the before and after effects of the pill are what concern me. At first I became a little giddy, almost drunk on the Nal all by itself, then it turned to being a little sick shortly after swallowing the pill, with or without food. What happens now is that the Nal just ruins my whole afternoon. Within a few minutes I get really hot and begin to sweat, then my head becomes foggy and finally I become lethargic and sleepy. Follow that with a glass of wine and I am ready for a nap. I bought a fresh batch of Naltima thinking it might have been that batch but had the same results. I am now relying 100% on will power not to drink more than two glasses of wine or beer and an after dinner port wine. So far I seem to be drinking normal without the old cravings for more and more but we will see how that goes. Actually taking the Nal just ruins the rest of the day.
