To answer a question above, my alcoholic math, converts everything to 12oz cans of beers. A fifth is 18 beers, so half a fifth is 9 beers.

I must concur with the above, after 7 months, I'm not where I want to be, but I am way better than where I was. I can't fathom stopping TSM. I may still go "overboard" with Pre-TSM numbers, when placed in "that" situation with "those" friends, however, my solo drinking events, which I really am working towards getting rid of, have decreased 3 fold on average. I still drink solo, but lots less amounts.

Since the ABV of beer can vary wildly, I find it a good idea to use a tool like this one to track your consumption:

That way you can get a pretty exact accounting for how much you drink rather than rounding things off to generic "cans of beer." Mind you, I'm a big craft beer drinker, so the beers I drink can range from being as weak as light beer to as potent as a strong wine. When one bottle of a big beer is equal to four cans of a normal beer, it's best to track another way!

Oh my gosh, thanks everyone for the support. My husband and I, being highly functioning and well respected people have drank socially but hid our "problem" for years. Talking about it is new for us and I can not express my gratitude for having a place to simply be honest. Tears, seriously.

I talked to my dr again last week and told her about TSM. She was very supportive and will be doing her own research. She is willing to prescribe nal for as long as I need. Love her.

According to the above link (thank you for the post) if I drink 1/2 a fifth a night, that's 40% abv, 750ml in a fifth US, that's 8.5 drinks a night. (A fifth= 16.9 drinks) which I have consistently cut in half since nal, I can not get past 1.5 of MY drinks per night, as opposed to the 3 I would have before. Or... You could say I'm down from 8.5 to 4.25 per night.

I'm also happy with the analogy of 9 beers a night reduced to 4.5! I can wrap my brain around that!!
