Thanks Nick and St. V for your comments.
Coalfire, 23andme automatically gives you access to all the results when you order. You can find out a lot of interesting things about yourself. Check online for coupon codes or maybe wait for a sale. I got mine for half off their current price during their Christmas sale. As for privacy, I'm not really sure. It's not a big deal to me so I don't pay attention, but they should have their policy posted on the site. I believe they do use you data for research, but they strip out identifying info. I also believe you can opt out of that if you like.
It's funny. When I was in AA, I would remember many people telling their stories about how they felt socially awkward and alcohol made them feel like they fit in. I bet there are a disproportionate number of GGs that are alcoholics.
Also, if you look at the chart I posted earlier, East Asians have a much higher percentage of GGs than other races and we're often stereotyped as being socially awkward or at least more timid. You would think that there would be a higher percentage of Asian alcoholics, but statistically we are the race that is least likely to become alcoholic. There are theories that Asian flush (skin redness, irritation and discomfort when alcohol is consumed) is so prevalent in Asian populations (approximately 50% have it) because it prevents alcoholism and that makes sense considering how many GGs we have. Unfortunately, I have no flush reaction at all so I wasn't protected.
