I took my first half dose on Friday. It worked. I had all the expected side effects; slight nausea, dizzy and got very tired, but it works really well in that I was not interested in drinking, although, I tried. I was surprised how it changed my drunk experience. It disassociated the happy feeling I have from the drunkenness. I was still getting drunk, but --- it wasn't any fun. It didn't feel good.

By Saturday I decided I wanted my regular drinking and I didn't take the pill, but then it all went sideways. I believe the medication was still in my system and when I started drinking Saturday, I didn't really feel the effect of the alcohol. 1 drink 2 drinks 3 drinks, by 4 I was kind of drunk but it didn't feel like normal drunk. It's missing something. So, of course I kept drinking, chasing it, until I had one of the worst barf and blacked out nights ever...ugh. As usual, today - I feel stupid and ashamed.

I do not like the side effects of the pill, but I can't keep drinking like this. I need this to work.

Hi! Welcome to the the forum!

The side effects generally last a few days to a couple of weeks, so hang in there and they should pass. More water throughout the evening will help minimize them.

The memory that drinking is fun will fade in time and you'll likely have to put up with losing that until the addicted part of your brain forgets that alcohol is good for much of anything. It's that memory that drives our drinking. Watch out for the addicted Lizard Brain trying to get you to drink without the pill, that will just run you backwards at double-speed because your opioid receptors will be upregulated and super sensitive. Hang in there and keep on posting! There's another community at http://optionssavelives.freeforums.net/ if you want to check that out too.
