Hi eveyone :)
Just seeking a little advice from those who know. I have been following the TSM now for 8 weeks, and I am planning to have my first Alcohol/Naltrexone free weekend this coming weekend. I am a bit concerned as my alcohol intake is still very high ( around 20 UK units per day) but something deep inside me tells me I should give it a shot, I would appreciate any advice from those who are experienced with this, I would love to hear your opinions before I take the plunge !! With many thanks in advance, :) all the best from me to you all
Benjy :D

Hey Benjy

Wow, that seems like a huge step! My units are similar to yours recently, and I couldn't even imagine an AF day at this point, but then I use drink as a relaxant for my anxiety disorder. Just a suggestion, but how about trying just one day first, rather than a whole weekend? At those drinking levels from what I was told during in-patient detoxes I don't believe it's safe to quit 'cold turkey' even for a few days - and I may be wrong but at one detox I was told that the most dangerous time for withdrawal seizures is 72 hours after the last drink.

Anyway, whatever you decide, best of British :D

Hi 8 :)
All the best to you and thanks for your input. I think you are right, I should just try one day and see what happens, having some Al and Nal on stand by just in case, will try it Saturday and see what happens, thanks for your advice again, I am convinced that we know in our deep inner being when we are ready to take certain steps :) Do you feel ready to try the same yet? maybe we could do it together? Just a thought ;) Thanks for your care, it is very much appreciated, I will post again soon with the results, keep strong my friend
Benjy :)

Hey Benjy --

Best of luck to you. But remember, AF days should not be forced. If you have significant cravings, pop the naltrexone, have a drink and extinguish another trigger. On the other hand, if you don't have significant cravings, enjoy your AF day.

My best,

Nick

Nick :)
Thanks for your advice, I will certainly take heed, will not try to force anything. God bless you all for helping me, all the best to you in your journies, I will post a progress report after the weekend. Thanks again. Love to all

I have never forced af days. I just go with the rhythm of my body. To fight with oneself vigorously is to create more stress and to create more stress to invite addiction back in. I would just say be keenly aware of what you are doing and it is ok to have an af weekend as long as it it filled with fun. Don't want you to look back and feel something is missing. :)
